Does constant bad news change how you see people?

It feels like a lot of what we hear in the news lately is negative.

Sometimes I catch myself becoming a bit more cynical without even meaning to. Like expecting the worst instead of the best.

I’ve been wondering if others notice that too, and what helps you not let it shape how you see people or the world.

Lately, I have just glanced at headlines, and it’s always death, chaos, drama, etc. Honestly, I close it without viewing and go either here to read, or to the Bible, I don’t even want the negativity however distant to effect me, the last I saw was about those 7 kids being shot and it broke my heart, it just makes you start to question things, I would rather view content that reaffirms my faith rather then shakes it.

Yes, so much negative news. That’s what usually gets the clicks, I suppose. I have had to unfollow some news websites that often post really violent or sad stories. I want to be able to face what’s truly going on in the world, but at the same time, unless it’s in my local community, it’s often unhelpful and only disrupts my ability to be present and in a good mental space for my own family, friends, and community.

I’m with you. I’ll view the headline, but not read the article. What I don’t understand is how many Christians bad mouth our politicians, and I guess I’m referring to Trump the most. We’re supposed to obey them and pray for them. The only thing that takes away from obeying them is if its a matter of obedience to God.
Can you imagine if the whole world of Christians began praying for their leaders? What a difference that would make.
