Lost Cause
Confessing all of our Fears of a Lost Cause,
Of which there are so many in this sad Life…
With some relishing and being Proud at being cast away;
Which is of all courses of action, most unwise…
Thinking to punish us by throwing away themselves,
Cleaving to us by their spirits but bodily repugnant…
Taking great joy in the knowledge we’ll be denied the one thing we want;
Yet failing to understand and appreciate we have power ultimately to move on…
Though we may be incomplete without them,
Yet God is able to provide others…
Thinking to teach us that no-one is not dispensible;
What? Are we a Child who must return to pulped fruit for our eating?
Such attempts at emotional blackmail are not good,
Cutting off their own noses to spite their own faces…
Which they suppose is what we are doing ourselves;
But they fail to see our God is our aim to please foremost and none else…
Making so sad a deal of this travail of their lives,
Adding to their own burdens and their strife…
Refusing to come in from out of the cold and the rain;
Preferring instead the company of the fugutive and profane…
Ever looking a gift-horse in the mouth,
Neither being led to water nor yet drinking thereof…
Casting away all of the love and the care shown to them;
Preferring to pretend their wretchedness were as some unknown treatment at our hands…
Else claiming we killed them with kindness,
Fake reports of love-bombing which are untrue…
Looking for fault unable to do right for doing wrong;
Labelled as in error despite being proven correct over and over…
