I feel that the Secret Service has failed to take the necessary steps to prevent such a thing from being possible with each of these attempts.
I have some security training, and I would know that you need to walk the property beforehand and check bushes and other places that could hide a dangerous person.
No, but some assassins have military grade body armor and weaponry, so their job is tougher. In the case of the first would be assassin, negligence and slow as molasses response time was indeed a Secret Service fault.
Perhaps, but the second one should never have been able to hang out in the bushes for 12 hours.
I agree. Incompetence or a well thought out attempt? Security dogs would have caught the second attempt.
