Here in the Mid-Atlantic (USA), it is getting pretty bad. There is a haze everywhere and it smells like a giant fire outside from the smoke that is drifting down from Canadian wildfires. I have family in the Upper Midwest and it is even worse there. Praying everyone stays safe!
Terrible! I can’t breathe outside. It’s so thick and hazy. Everything smells terrible and I can feel it in my lungs. I’m in Ohio.
It was rated here as unhealthy on Wednesday. Very unhealthy on Thursday and today is rated dangerous. The fires are in northern Ontario and Quebec. Some are not under control yet. The wind is carrying the smoke south.
I’m in Ohio and it’s a lot better today praise the Lord. The last two days it was like a light fog was everywhere. But it was smoke.

Really bad. I live on the Canadian Border in the far North Country. We are under Qir Quality warnings a lot. But the sky is a pretty shade of orange.

Today is better, The air quality is listed as poor, but it seems fine. Poor is one step below fair.
I feel for the Premier of Ontario who is taking flak from both the President of the USA and our indigenous community. Trump blames Premier Ford for the direction of the wind. In response he wants to levee tariffs on Canada. He’s forgotten how much help and equipment Canada gave to the US last year with their fires. Our response is to help and their response is to levee tariffs. Makes no sense.
The indigenous community feels that the Canadian gov’t hasn’t helped them fast enough or just enough. They are unaware that the wild fire situation is enormous and unprecedented. As Ford pointed out, no one has died and that is due to military, firefighters, emergency personal and everyone who is combating what is happening in northern Ontario and Quebec.
For example, the town of Collins reported the fire approaching their place and immediate help didn’t arrive. The town is now gone and they blame the gov’t. However this fire travels fast at 4 miles/hour and even if they had people to send right away, they would not of made it in time.
The extent of the fires is 728,000 hectares and 190 fires. Some are under control and some are not. This is a large area to cover and its not feasible for personnel to move quickly to a new spot with such a fast traveling fire.
So Premier Ford is taking flak from the northern communities and from southern politics. Blame seems to be the name of the game. I can see that the relationship between Canada and the US has deteriorated quite a bit and even seems possible that our two nations may lose any friendship we once had.
Hope air quality is improving for everyone. Here in VA it’s much better than it was at the end of last week. Praying for all the firefighters and those working to get the fires under control.
