I’m supposed to take a plane trip across the Atlantic tommorow and I’m terrified I’m going to die of a heart attack on the plane. I watched a YouTube video on “what happens if there’s an emergency on a flight” and the comments are full of people saying they knew healthy young people who died of heart attacks on flights. I’m terrified and don’t want to go. I’m constantly feeling bad as I mentioned previously. And the trip is a mission trip which I don’t think I’m ready for because unfortunely instead of embracing God this Summer I embraced sin. I’m really terrified.
Those fears can happen to me too before a flight if I let my thoughts spiral. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot of anxiety. Have you ever tried a calming app or podcast that reads scripture to you or maybe one with a brief devotion? That may help to ground you.

There are so many things that can happen to us every day and we can never know when God has appointed the end of our life, but it’s impossible to sidestep his will and what he has ordained, even if you feel like you’ve messed up. Can something crazy happen? Sure, but it won’t happen because you sinned or did something wrong.
Mission trips are so formative. I bet once you get there you will be so glad you went. You don’t need to be perfectly ready, you just need to be ready for God to use you to help those you’re going to serve. You never know how a small act of service can impact someone. Praying for you!
Have faith. (post must have at least 20 characters)
I will. I feel unready as I struggled with my sexuality this summer.
Learn from this and stop watch you tube videos.
think, if there is a serious emergency on a plane while in flight two things happen.
1/ the crew deal with it and all the passengers know is the flight is being diverted and landing.
2/ the plane crashes, there are no survivors so how do people know that health young people have heart attacks?
I’m frightened of flying too. It has more to do with the fact that I can’t leave if I want. Claustrophobia. It’s a horrible feeling. Anxiety.
Having a back up plan is helpful. A ‘just in case’ thing you can do if anxiety gets the best of you. For me, I took one of those tiny bottles of vodka in my purse. I know that alcohol will help and my thought was to order some kind of mix and drink it down. I never needed to use it. Just having that option was enough. Hope that helps.
You should know that one drink on a plane is like 3 drinks on the ground. Plus you don’t feel that great when you land. However it’s better than the anxiety.
I’m sorry but I don’t understand how you have no faith in your Lord?
Faith is a choice. Lord help our unbelief and take your God at His word. What word? Read your bible, that word. I know! Pray Psalm 91 before the flight. It’s 16 verses of protection if you choose to believe it. Write it down and keep it in your pocket and pray it again on the plane if you begin feeling anxious.
If you have unrepented sin then I don’t think you would have protection. Confess those sins and ask forgiveness and mean it.
There’s two sides to this coin. Ok so you researched what the airline will do to handle a emergency situation, that’s ok. But did you also open the word of God, to see how God handles emergency situations? I told you to pray Psalm 91, did you? Have you repented of your sins are are you merely coasting along still in them and giving them your time?
If you’re reading this, then God loves you and wants to hear from you.
Don’t go, there always another day. repent of sin.
Too late! I’m already safely there
Give us an update on your missions trip and how the travel went when you can!
So uh, I presume that the flight was without incident? I mean, they didn’t have to pull you from the water or anything, right?
