Now and then I want to write songs. Unfortunately I am largely unlearned when it comes to playing music, though want to change that; I still write a lot of music.

Charles Wesley wrote a hymn titled For a Thousand Tongues, and that was the basis for this particular song. I wanted something deeply reverent, tied to historic Christian hymnody, but also “modern”

I am always very nervous about sharing material I write that is often deeply personal. But if the words here are edifying to those who read, then give thanks to our God who is amazing and wonderful.

VERSE 1
O! For ten thousand hymns to raise
They still would fall too small
To tell the wonders of Thy grace
Or speak Thy name at all

CHORUS
So sing, my soul, forever sing
Lift high the praises of thy King
Proclaim the glory of His name
Sing ever of thy God and King
Till heaven and earth are made anew

VERSE 2
You found me in my wandering
When despair was all I knew
You turned my mourning into hope
And drew my soul to You

CHORUS
So sing, my soul, forever sing
Lift high the praises of thy King
Proclaim the glory of His name
Sing ever of thy God and King
Till heaven and earth are made anew

VERSE 3
Let every breath and every beat
Of this weary heart become
A melody of sweet release
O Christ who paid my ransom

CHORUS
So sing, my soul, forever sing
Lift high the praises of thy King
Proclaim the glory of His name
Sing ever of thy God and King
Till heaven and earth are made anew

VERSE 4
No choir strong enough to rise
No anthem loud enough
Could match the mercy of Thy hands
Or Thine redeeming love

FINAL CHORUS
Then sing, my soul, forever sing
Lift high the praises of thy King
Let every nation join the song
To Christ, to whom all praise belongs
Till heaven and earth are made anew
And all creation sings of You

This is amazing 💞 Some of the greatest composers, musicians, and artists in history had no formal training. Love this.

Thanks for sharing this! I love how you wrote it in the beautiful tradition of old hymns, yet with a modern twist, as you said.

I am not musically gifted either, but I write a lot of poetry. Keep writing! Maybe you can even collaborate with a musician who could put your words to a melody.

This is a beautiful hymn you wrote. I have the same problem, I can write the lyrics but can’t do the music. Then a friend of mine who was battling stage four colon cancer sent me a song he had done with Suno. I had no idea this type of program existed and I used it to send him a song the Lord had given me when I needed a healing. Since then I have used Suno to do many songs and some are being played on our local Christian radio station. I would encourage you to go and try it. There is a free program, but they wont let you use anything you make on the free program commercially unless you use the paid program, which runs around $96 dollars a year. You can hear some of the songs I did on my youtube channel which is Freedom Truth Studio. Hope this helps. You are gifted, keep writing.

You definitely have a gift for writing songs! The song you chose to share with us is beautifully written. Now to find someone to create the music for it. I’ll keep you in my payers that the Lord will bring that person into you life. Be surebto protect your songs with copywrite before sharing! But keep sharing them. In the right venue someone will see the potential in them & you’ll be on your way. Good luck & God Bless!

If it’s welcome here, here are a few more songs that I hope will be found edifying:

O Thou Who Makes All Things New

O Thou who makes all things new
Arise in our hearts new life
From Calvary’s rocky summit
Stands a Cross
See our sin and slavery
Broken upon His body
Christ the Lord has died
And life comes to all

O Thou who made Heaven and Earth
You beheld all was good
In Thy image man was made
But through one act of vice
Was all Creation’s fall

O Thou who makes all things new
Arise in our hearts new life

O Thou who preserved eight through the flood
And delivered Israel
From Pharaoh’s wicked hand
Thou spoke through the prophets
Of One who was to come

O Thou who makes all things new
Arise in our hearts new life

O Thou born of Mary’s flesh and womb
God the Word Incarnate
The Messiah, Son of God
Suffered death on Mt. Calvary
Arise, O Lord, from Thy tomb!

O Thou who makes all things new
Arise in our hearts new life

O Thou Risen Christ, God and King
Ascended to Thy Throne
Seated now until the day
When Thou shalt bring justice to the earth
And make all things new

O Thou who makes all things new
Arise in our hearts new life
