Revelation uses rich symbolic language. The “Whore of Babylon,” I believe, represents more than any single modern nation. It points to a broader system of rebellion against God, characterized by idolatry, immorality, and worldly power (Revelation 17).
While aspects of American culture may resemble Babylon’s traits, that doesn’t mean the US is Babylon.
From the volume of commercial shipping it sounds like us. However, I thought that because the blood of the martyrs is found in her, perhaps not. Then I thought of 60 million abortions and possibly so.
I respectfully refute the comments mentioning that the book of Revelation is restricted to the happenings of 100 AD or pertains to a distant future.
While I study the book of revelation, especially the visions, it does not seem have any chronological order. Some may be parallel happenings under different settings similar to where an author of a fiction book weaves parallel happenings but converges here and there. It can also be like how the prophecies are embedded in the historical narrations of the prophets.
Coming to USA being the whore of Babylon, I am sure USA and the British empire have something to do with the whore, the old beast whose head was wounded and the new beast but I am unable to zero in on anything.
My hunch is from the fact that after the Babylonian, the Persian-Mede and the Greco-Roman empire, the biggest empire is the British Empire spanning for several centuries.
