… “Christian podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey argued that Trump’s views on abortion are “indistinguishable” from Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris’ position on the issue.”…
…“It’s a very straightforward concept; in fact, we are all born with a set of fundamental rights, including the right to enjoy our lives,” she wrote. “We are all entitled to maintain a gratifying and dignified existence. This common-sense approach applies to a woman’s natural right to make decisions about her own body and health.” ~ Former President Donald Trump
…On Wednesday, pro-life writer Jonathon Van Maren cautioned that the Republican Party will continue to evolve into a “pro-abortion party” as long as the Trump family is running it…
…“Lara Trump, co-chair of the RNC, is prochoice; Eric affirmed that his father Donald has always remained pro-choice despite keeping his bargain with the pro-life movement, Van Maren wrote…
Trump has always been pro choice, but for political purposes supports the anti choice agenda. This is no surprise. Politicians support what is important to their constituents even if they don’t like it.
I don’t think The Trumps have been dishonest about this one thing.
Mrs. Trump is not running for office. She has little influence on her husband.
This may be an appeal to moderate Republicans who are jumping ship.
I believe the Trumps are pragmatic. As the former President said, you can’t accomplish anything if you don’t get elected. A hardline pro-life position may be biblical, but it’s a political loser. Abortion is simply never going to be outlawed, so a less hard-line position is pragmatic and politically expedient. Trump is certainly the preferable candidate on the issue and would, I’m confident, work to limit abortion to the extent realistically possible.
While I don’t agree that abortion is simply never going to be outlawed, I do agree that it likely won’t happen in our generation.
As politics runs downstream of culture, my prayer is that the hearts of the people would be changed and having access to such procedures and the emotional pain that results would become untenable in a society.
It is a great puzzle that a society as sophisticated as ours, and with so many ways to avoid unwanted pregnancy, could tolerate the ghastly abortion procedures and the abortion holocaust. And yet, it’s all celebrated as though it were some sacred right (and rite). Supernatural evil is the only explanation that occurs to me. I just don’t see any realistic possibility of a societal change of heart this side of the Second Coming.
