I watched the movie Bonhoeffer last night and was incredibly moved by Pastor Bonhoeffer’s commitment. A quote that resounded during the entire movie and one anyone who takes up the cross of Jesus will ultimately face is this: “When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.”
What will you do when you have to live your faith? In my travels with outreach support and in secular life, it has become pretty apparent anyone who takes up the cross will one day face the challenge of defending it against the open notions of secular society. Jesus did say once you follow him, you are reborn and not of this world, but the world, the very one that if it had the chance would crucify him again, will enter your rebirth and challenge you.

There are a lot of things in Bonhoeffer and also the movie Truth & Treason that are reflected today. This is what happens when you have people erasing and censoring history to install the same ideologies, thus thinking no one was paying attention.

That was an excellent movie! There is a lot of good content on Angel, but there is some woke garbage as well. I’ve emailed my displeasure about certain movies being included, such as SKETCH. Ridiculous movie. I wrestle with continuing on as a member because of content like that. Otherwise, Riot and the Dance is one of my favorite series. I’d love to hear some of your favorites.

Movies and series are published based on guild voting. I have seen the selection posted by visionaries who want to produce their movie or series. And you and I, as guild members, have the ability to review the selection, watch a bit of the first clip, and decide whether this endeavour should even be pursued. I think I did watch the first clip of Sketch, and I do not recall it ever marching headlong into woke themes. Which would be a misrepresentation by the people or organizations seeking Angel as their producer. But I would expect as such, because many of those promoting woke or alternate gender ideologies need to market their messages into the wholesome space to try and legitimize the narrative (strangely like what the brown shirt youth did prior to Hitler becoming Chancellor).

I love the period movies that utilize actual historical events. I have been a student of history for a long time, and we never learn unless we remember and know history. The Shift was interesting, and I first became a subscriber with Sound of Freedom. The Tuttle Twins is a favourite and pretty historically accurate, and Sight was one of mine. I am interested in viewing Last Rodeo and the story on RFK (RFK is kind of unique in that he adopted the same eating way as I have, which completely reversed all illness)

SKETCH started out interesting..for me..but I quickly saw through the cuteness into a child..a little girl who wants to be something other than a little girl..who sketches “monsters” that come to life and terrorize her family, friends and community until she is “allowed” to transition into a creature she wasn’t created to be. Wholesome? Far from it. So, I sent off an email. They responded, wanting to know why I was upset. Really?

I’ve been following Neil McDonoug for years now, since reading an article about his refusal to kiss another woman on screen. I remember thinking “an actor with integrity?? No way!” He joined Angel Studios because they respected his commitment to his wife and marriage vows. I was THRILLED to see a production agency forming that was so different from the high body count, gore, sexualized violence of Hollywood. But your description of wrapping transgender ideologies in “wholesome-ness” to sell it is accurate. I struggle with the excellent Christian content juxtaposed with woke garbage like sketch. I could cancel my subscription but I really do like the Christian content, and enjoy the clean(er) humour of Dry Bar.

The Chosen was pivotal in my early walk with Christ. When I talk to Him now I apologize for using a human to imagine Him but at the same time I tell Him it helps my puny human brain connect to His vastness, His greatness and His loving mercy. I think He understands  And The Chosen helped me visualize a more accurate picture of Christ - the fact that He was Jewish, lived in the Middle East, worked with His hands for a living, had friends, had family, had loved ones - just like you and me - felt grief and pain, physical, emotional and spiritual, needed food, water, shelter, rest and even had to go to the bathroom…all things human..yet He defeated death and changed the world forever. That perspective drew me in, wanting to go deeper in His love, WANTING to be obedient and live in His will and love the way He loves. I still fall so very short every single day but He picks me up, dusts me off, tells me He loves me and says “follow me”.

There is a lot of opposition to The Chosen because it isn’t 100% biblically accurate but millions are tuning in and turning to scripture, and turning to Him. How terrible..right?

Have you watched “The Promised Land” yet? A hilarious take on Moses. You’ll see a lot of familiar faces!

Here’s a short list of some of my favorites: Miracle, Testify, The Case for Christ, Live Not by Lies (I HIGHLY recommend this one), Truth and Treason, King of Kings, Testament, After Death..ok..not so short of a list lol.

I’m really enjoying this thread! Thank you for starting it!

I will have finished watching The Chosen. I find the people who question biblical accuracy interesting. So the reason Jesus Christ is different from others is, other than the obvious aspect that he died and there was no body, because he returned. However, when he returned, he became a living guide and God for all of us, not just a word on a page from the past. So when someone writes a projection about this life, that projection may be inspired by the living and guiding Jesus. We never really know apart from having the Holy Spirit guide us, talk to us in our dreams, and assist with our decisions and directions. I think people forget the real pathway to life; Jesus is alive, has been, and walks with us all now. He is as relevant today as any day. When I read the reviews, I view them as the musings of individuals rather than as praise for Jesus, who also watches these shows and helps shape them to convey his message to people’s hearts, possibly from a different perspective.

I actually stepped away from my Angel subscription for a time; I had run out of shows to watch after completely exhausting their catalogue. I have a lot to catch up with; I find it a struggle to watch the shows. When key points in the movie or series touch on verses or passages, I become all emotional. It feels like an angel touches me, causing me to melt into a puddle. I first realized all these facts after being baptized in the Holy Spirit when I worked in a little outreach parish.

Thank you for your faith, and welcome to the body of Jesus. We all struggle with our flesh as it pulls us towards the sinful world. It is not straightforward to recognize the pull of the world and to reject it in order to fend off the demons once again. A passage in the book “The Final Quest” by Pastor Rick Joyner talks about demons perched on the shoulders of the people in the world, and whenever we attempt to step away and toss them off, then other demons come back to tempt us with sins from the world. It was a rather disturbing image, but I suspect during his visions, it is one that is pretty accurate. A lot of people question Pastor Rick’s book to, and yet it will literally change your life if you read it.

I’m on round 6 of all seasons of the Chosen. I’ll watch other programs, and even secular viewing, which is mostly garbage, but I always end up back to the Chosen, and find overlooked little gems, references, and an opportunity to look something up in the bible..and learn.

And it looks like I’ve added another book to my growing books that I’d like to read
