@KeithR, my experiences with depression because of past trauma show me that God can heal you from past trauma. Whether he will or not is up to him. I answered your other post about this topic elsewhere, so I won’t repeat myself. However, my traumatic events were the death of my 3-year-old brother and my 4-and-one-half-year-old son, both from leukemia; a dysfunctional family while I was growing up; several professing Christians’ un-Christian actions toward me; my 7 years of major depression; four kinds of physical pain; and my wife’s sudden death after 56 years of marriage. Yet, God has promised and given me his peace about all those events. See my other comments on your other thread.
