1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Verse 13, God is faithful

Verse 13. Consolation to them, under their temptation; it is none but such as is “common to man,” or “such as man can bear,” “adapted to man’s powers of endurance” [WAHL].

faithful – (Ps 125:3 Isa 27:3, 8 Rev. 3:10). “God is faithful” to the covenant which He made with you in calling you (1Th 5:24). To be led into temptation is distinct from running into it, which would be “tempting God” (1Co 10:9 Mt 4:7).

way to escape – (Jer 29:11 2Pe 2:9). The Greek is, “the way of escape”; the appropriate way of escape in each particular temptation; not an immediate escape, but one in due time, after patience has had her perfect work (Jas 1:2-4, 12). He “makes” the way of escape simultaneously with the temptation that His providence permissively arranges for His people.

to bear it – Greek, “to bear up under it,” or “against it.” Not, He will take it away (2Co 12:7-9).

faithful – Psalms 125:3 (NKJV) For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest On the land allotted to the righteous, Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.

Notes–reserved – “kept.” It is only God’s constantly watchful providence that holds together the present state of things till His time to end it.

which are now – “the postdiluvian visible world.” In contrast to “that then was,” 2Pe 3:6.

the same – Other oldest manuscripts read, “His” (God’s).

Verse 3. Though God may leave them for a time under the “rod,” or power (Ps 2:9), and oppression of the wicked for a time, as a chastisement, He will not suffer them to be tempted so as to fall into sin (1Co 10:13). The wicked shall only prove a correcting rod to them, not a destroying sword; even this rod shall not remain (“rest”) on them, lest they be tempted to despair and apostasy (Ps 73:13, 14). God may even try His people to the uttermost: when nothing is before our eyes but pure despair, then He delivers us and gives life in death, and makes us blessed in the curse (2Co 1:8, 9) [LUTHER].

the lot – the possession, literally, “Canaan,” spiritually, the heavenly inheritance of holiness and bliss which is appointed to the righteous. Sin’s dominion shall not permanently come between the believer and his inheritance.

there are 3 levels of trials if you are in the Lord’s will
read Psalms 91: 5, 11; Ephesians 6: 10

Hi,
I don’t know the God you are writing about.
But I do know that the God I serve will never leave me nor forsake me.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. KJV

Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. KJV

Not even for “a little while.”

Blessings

Is there some sort of nationwide shortage of psych medications? The prophets are coming out of the woodwork. Are you and @Tillman the two witnesses?

Witnessing & Conviction

Power of the Spirit At the beginning of the Book of Acts, Jesus’ followers appear confused and fearful. But by the end of the book they are well on their way to transforming the Roman world with the gospel. What accounts for this dramatic change? Acts 1:8 provides the answer: “You shall receive power.” But notice:

  1. The power promised was not force or political authority. Israel had enjoyed superiority under David and Solomon, but those days were distant memories. Jesus was not indicating a revival of Jewish dominance. Instead, the word “power” means ability or capacity. Jesus promised that once the Holy Spirit came upon them, His followers would have a new ability.

  2. The ability had more to do with being than doing. The believers would “be witnesses,” not just “do witnessing.” Evangelism is a process, not just an event. It involves a total lifestyle, not just occasional efforts.

  3. The power came from without, not from within. The believers were not to manufacture their own ways of proclaiming the gospel but to look for supernatural ability from the Spirit to make them effective in the gospel presentation. The power came when the Holy Spirit arrived, not before.

  4. The believers were to be witnesses to Christ, not to themselves. They were to make disciples not to themselves but to the risen Lord (Matt. 28:18–20).

Behold, I stand at the door and knock, “HELLOOOOO, ANYBODY HOME IN THERE???”

@MrE
Leave me out of your delusions. You are on your own. I serve God, not whatever distorted narrative is going on in your mind.

@OneIsTheWord
Nothing I wrote refers to you or your post. I have not even read it yet. Just to clarify any possible misintetpretation or misunderstanding of what I wrote.

Basic principal of understanding the bible is to read the context, and the context of 1 cor 10:13 is about continuing in the faith using the history of Israel.

Examine oneself
This is a respond to 1 cor 10: 13

Phil 2:3-5 Doing nothing through envy or through pride, but with low thoughts of self-let everyone take others to be better than himself; Not looking everyone to his private good, but keeping in mind the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus,

Phil 1:15-17 Though some are preaching Christ out of envy and competition, others do it out of a good heart: These do it from love, conscious that I am responsible for the cause of the good news: But those are preaching Christ in a spirit of competition, not from their hearts, but with the purpose of giving me pain in my prison.

2 Cor 1:12 For our glory is in this, in the knowledge which we have that our way of life in the world, and most of all in relation to you, has been holy and true in the eyes of God; not in the wisdom of the flesh, but in the grace of God.
Titus 1:9-10 Keeping to the true word of the teaching, so that he may be able to give comfort by right teaching and overcome the arguments of the doubters. For there are men who are not ruled by law; foolish talkers, false teachers, especially those of the circumcision,

Phil 1:16-17 These do it from love, conscious that I am responsible for the cause of the good news: But those are preaching Christ in a spirit of competition, not from their hearts, but with the purpose of giving me pain in my prison.

2 Cor 12:20 For I have a fear that, when I come, you may not be answering to my desire, and that I may not be answering to yours; that there may be fighting, hate, angry feeling, divisions, evil talk about others, secrets, thoughts of pride, outbursts against authority.

Prov 30:11-14 There is a generation who put a curse on their father, and do not give a blessing to their mother. There is a generation who seem to themselves to be free from sin but are not washed from their unclean ways. There is a generation, O how full of pride are their eyes! O how their brows are lifted up! There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, their strong teeth like knives, for the destruction of the poor from the earth, and of those who are in need from among men.

Prov 11:24-26 A man may give freely, and still his wealth will be increased; and another may keep back more than is right, but only comes to be in need. He who gives blessing will be made fat, but the curser will himself be cursed. He who keeps back grain will be cursed by the people; but a blessing will be on the head of him who lets them have it for a price.

1 Cor 11:27-34 If then, anyone takes the bread or the cup of the Lord in the wrong spirit, he will be responsible for the body and blood of the Lord. But let no man take of the bread and the cup without testing himself. For a man puts himself in danger, if he takes part in the holy meal without being conscious that it is the Lord’s body. For this cause a number of you are feeble and ill, and a number are dead. But if we were true judges of ourselves, punishment would not come to us. But if punishment does come, it is sent by the Lord, so that we may be safe when the world is judged. So then, my brothers, when you come together to the holy meal of the Lord, let there be waiting for one another. If any man is in need of food, let him take his meal in his house; so that you may not come together to your damage. And the rest I will put in order when I come.

Malachi 3: 16 - 18 Then those in whom was the fear of the Lord had talk together: and the Lord gave ear, and it was recorded in a book to be kept in mind before him, for those who had the fear of the Lord and gave thought to his name. And they will be mine, says the Lord, in the day when I make them my special property; and I will have mercy on them as a man has mercy on his son who is his servant. Then you will again see how the upright man is different from the sinner, and the servant of God from him who is not.

1 Tim 3:1-7 This is a true saying, A man desiring the position of a Bishop has a desire for a good work. The Bishop, then, is to be a man of good name, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, serious-minded, having respect for order, opening his house freely to guests, a ready teacher; Not quickly moved to wrath or blows, but gentle; no fighter, no lover of money; Ruling his house well, having his children under control with all serious behavior; (For if a man has not the art of ruling his house, how will he take care of the church of God?) Not one newly taken into the church, for fear that, through his high opinion of himself, he may come into the same sin as the Evil One. And he is to have a good name among those outside the church, so that nothing may be said against him, and he may not be taken by the designs of the Evil One.
