@kv100
You began this thread with sharing your personal point of view, and I tried to understand it. We were discussing it, and then you just stopped responding to me. What happened?
You asked (inferred you wanted to know) why, or how other Christians came to believe that God’s kind of life begins at conception, since you believe it begins around 24 weeks of development. I conceded that the Bible does not say that God’s “life” begins at conception explicitly, or in exactly those words, but God does say many things that lead us to understand His way of creating His people and how He views the unborn. The most obvious way we know how God views the unborn human developing in the womb is seen by how He lovingly speaks of them, adding no point along that path of development where He begins to view them differently. It is logical that if there were a point where God to begin to view a developing human differently, He would surely tell us what that point is, but He doesn’t. He speaks of all unborn in the same way, and makes no distinction about how far along the path of development they are.
For example:
“And the Angel of the LORD said to her: "Behold, you are with child, and you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, Because the LORD has heard your affliction.” (Genesis 16:11)
"If men fight, and hurt a woman with child, so that she gives birth prematurely, yet no harm follows, he shall surely be punished accordingly as the woman’s husband imposes on him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if any harm follows, then you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.” (Exodus 21:22-25)
“So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the LORD gave her conception, and she bore a son.” (Ruth 4:13)
“But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days!” (Matthew 24:19)
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.” Matthew 1:18-19)
See, no mention of a point of development that God’s opinion changes, or where the value of the fetus changes. So Most Christians take God’s word at face value. According to God’s word,if a woman is pregnant, that pregnancy deserves to be protected.
I am trying to understand your point of view. I understand you accept man’s current “clinical definition of viability” as the point you assume God implants His “breath of life” into that fetus. Clinical viability is the point modern medicine can hope to maintain the biological life of the fetus outside the womb. I’m sure you concede that the point of “clinical viability” has been changing over the past 100 years, and will likely continue to change, right? If so, you must see that by your point of view, God is subject to the point that mankind can keep a fetus alive. Do you see that?
I’d like to hear from you again.
