What are your thoughts on this new chapter in American leadership?

Just trying to be helpful, I regret to inform you that “muting” kindly Bingo will not achieve “ignoring” him, as I learned myself. In order to have “ignoring” privileges, you must ascend to exalted Trust Level 2, whatever that means. You will discover that muting accomplishes pretty much nothing.

However, you are hereby granted a De Facto Ignore of kindly Bingo, which means that I shall simply not respond to any of your posts in the future, which means that you won’t have any of my posts to ignore, and the world will be a better place.

Moving on …

You are so misinformed. God protected Trump from two attempts to take his life. Why do they want him taken out? Because he is a strong leader and the terrorists, who by the way are infiltrating our entire country, are so afraid of him. They know he will protect America first. Why on earth would you believe the lies of Harris and the demented Biden administration? They are not from God. Trump believes in our country first, not allowing the rest of the world to take over. China is buying up our land. Why do you think? They are preparing to take us over from the inside. Please check your sources and learn the real truth. God bless the USA! God bless President Trump!

LOL! I am not going to “dial back” anything.

Trump is a fascist. Period. “Terrorists” are infiltrating our entire country? I assume that you’re referring to the January 6 terrorists who tried to overthrow democracy by violence. Of course, Trump will let those terrorists out of prison to inflict more violence on what used to be a democracy.

Trump has been convicted of 34 felonies (more than Mafia dons) and sexual assault. He is a criminal! And now there will be a criminal in the Oval Office. Putin and Kim Jon-Un are delighted with their ally seizing power. Goodbye Ukraine, goodbye NATO.

Matthew 4:8-9, "Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur. And he said to him, “I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.” Jesus refused; Trump accepted.

Enjoying that fascist Koolade you are drinking? You are idolizing a whoremongering criminal. The blood of a dying democracy is on your hands and on the hands of all evangelicals.

I understand some reasons folks voted for Trump, but this religious clap trap is insane. Blasphemy !!!

More nuanced post to follow when I feel up to it.

Most of my friends, believe it or not, are full-tilt Never Trumpers and worse. Now that some of the dust has settled, I’ve noticed two distinct responses in them and the media:

1. Those Who Can’t Let Go: The sky is falling, Trump is a Nazi/fascist dictator, those idiots who voted for Trump didn’t know what they were doing, they’re a bunch of Kool Aid drinking cultists, and they are going to get a big shock when the next 4-12 years are hell.

2. The Realists: Those who elected Trump knew exactly what they were doing. The sweep was too big to chalk it up to cultists. The voters have been listening to the media denigrate Trump and push the Nazi/fascist narrative for years, they saw January 6 unfold in their front of their eyes, they witnessed all the civil and criminal proceedings unfold - AND THEY STILL VOTED OVERWHELMING FOR TRUMP and did so because THEY SIMPLY REJECT THE RADICAL FAR LEFT VISION FOR THE COUNTRY.

That’s the reality for a Democrat. The issue is NOT “What are we going to do about this fascist dictator?” but rather “What are we going to do about our own party and message because the one we’ve been peddling ain’t gonna sell in America?” I’ve been heartened than even old Bernie Sanders understands this.

When I see the divisiveness in many of these posts, it’s discouraging. Recall that during the Civil War someone asked Abraham Lincoln if he thought Abraham Lincoln if God was on his side. Lincolnis purpoted to have said “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side, my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.”

I find it interesting that a lot of people in their comments seem to think God is on their side, or at the very least, on Donald Trump’s side.

Think perhaps we should ask rather “are we on God’s side?” I’m no Biblical scholar but recall God allowed the Israelites to wander the desert for 40 years because they followed their own will rather than His. Over that time He gently (and sometimes not so gently) brought them round - some of them - but some didn’t listen because they were so convinced of the rightness (and righteousness?) of their own argument(s).

Just maybe we should assess our collective thinking and ask if the United States of America is now wandering in the desert and if so, how long have we been here? Also would assess whether we’re giving Godly qualities and idolizing those who might be false prophets… Again, I’m no Biblical scholar but recall Jesus said that many would come in His name saying “I am He” but to be aware/beware of false prophets who will/would deceive the most righteousness and those most sincere in their beliefs (KJV says “the very elect”)…

Short and simple answer for me.

No, Trump is not the man I would have preferred in office, but Mike Pence, Dr Ben Carson, Tim Scott or even Ted Cruz weren’t the ones that wound up on the ticket.

My primary reason for voting for him boils down to one issue, I cannot abide electing a pro-choice candidate and either Biden or Harris were promising national measures to legalize abortions up through the end of the third trimester. IOW, killing completely viable fully grown infants!

At least your friends have some sense. The USA that I have known all my life is OVER!

You have thrown away our entire nation on one issue. As usual, defending a fetus comes before defending children who will suffer under our incoming fascist regime. Way to go, Christian. :face_vomiting:

I don’t believe this election would have led to a worse catastrophe if the other side had won.

In my view, America was already on the path to being lost long before this Election Day.

This is the inevitable outcome of a two-party system and a political culture determined to maintain the status quo.

In the words of John McEnroe, “You can’t be serious”.

a) I haven’t “thrown away our entire nation on one issue”. That is total nonsense. a) I haven’t thrown anything away. b) There are many issues other than a woman’s right to make her own medical decisions.

b) Even though I’m sure you didn’t mean this – “children who will suffer under our incoming fascist regime” – read what you wrote. What you are saying is that children because Trump is a fascist!. IMHO, many, many people other than the rich and powerful will suffer during his term in office.

Benny I was not replying to you. I normally agree with you.
