What is the spiritual atmosphere like in your area?

I’m curious what the spiritual atmosphere is like in the area you live in. Are most people Christian or not? Is Christianity growing or declining? Is it cultural or sincere? How big of a presence does false religion have? What would say is the biggest struggle for Christians in your area? Do any places feel demonic? Any places really spiritual?

I live in the Bible Belt, and the majority of the older generation is Christian. The younger generation is a mixed bag, some are Christian but some secular. There isn’t much false religion here. The biggest issue I’d say is we have a lot of new transplants in the area from up north and out west and they dislike how religious this area is.

When I have gone up north or out west, it is obvious how irreligious it is.

I spent the winter of my discount tent, 1971-72, in the lovely Genesee Valley of Western New York. The heart of Finney’s “burned-over district.” 130 years later, the area’s mood was still a bitter cynicism towards the Gospel.

Disapointing. Maybe it’s because all the Christians moved south)

Wow that sounds bad, Brother. My little town outside of Columbus is just jam packed with Christians. I couldn’t believe it when I moved here. There’s more Christians here than anywhere I’ve ever lived it seems. And supposedly I live on the wrong side of the tracks, lol.

What do you mean? What I meant was I here newbies to my area complaining how they are being asked to go to church and that there’s Jesus signs everywhere

I think the spiritual atmosphere of a place is about more than the number of churches or Christian signs. Those things can certainly be encouraging, but what has always made the biggest impression on me is seeing Christians who genuinely love their neighbors, serve their communities, and live out their faith with humility.

Every community has its strengths and challenges. I hope that when people visit an area, what they remember most is not just the churches they saw, but the kindness and compassion they experienced from the people who live there.
