Are We Learning to Live Free—or Still Chained by Old Habits?
As Christians reflect on the freedom Christ offers, we invite your voice in Crosswalk Forums.

Even after we’ve been set free by Jesus, many of us still live like prisoners. We carry old wounds, reach for old habits, and cling to control like it’s the only way to survive. In 2 Corinthians 3:17, Paul reminds us: “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” So why does freedom feel so hard to live out?
The answer often lies in trust. We may trust Christ for salvation but not yet for healing, growth, or transformation. Like the writer of today’s devotional, we sometimes default to self-protection or self-sabotage, thinking we’re in control—when what we need is surrender. Christ came not only to save us but to free us from sin’s grip and lead us into a new way of living… daily.
- Why do you think Christians often struggle to live in the freedom they’ve already been given?
- What old habit or mindset still tries to control your life, even though you’ve been set free?
- How can we walk in spiritual freedom practically—especially when we fall back into shame or fear?
“We’ve received spiritual freedom through Christ, but now we must learn to live in it.”
