We are overdue for a moderate, common sense political party in the USA, IMO.
It has been a very long time since third parties were relevant, and that was for a brief time.
Is it possible?

The system is currently set up to keep that from happening.
There have been legitimately good candidates in the past but they either can’t get on the ballot or are not permitted to participate in national debates.
The two parties just will not allow this to happen.
It would take people leaving the two parties in large numbers, forming a coalition, and forming one strong party instead of multiple minor parties. Not an easy task, but there is no place for moderates in either party today.
I think it is a pipe dream… one I strive for nevertheless.
I’ve voted 3rd party for the last 3 presidential elections.
People tell me that it is a “throw-away vote”.
I prefer to vote FOR someone that I want to win instead of settling for the lesser of two evils. In this election the evils were different but equal in my opinion.
Would you consider voting for a new third-party, America Candidate? Stated intention of the America party is a fiscally responsible government.

Hi,
We are doing just fine messing things up with two parties.
I don’t know if America could handle a third party.
Besides, we already have a third party; the Libertarian party.
I googled and found six individuals who ran for President in the 2024 election:
Democratic Party: Kamala Harris
Republican Party: Donald Trump
Green Party: Jill Stein
Libertarian Party: Chase Oliver
American Solidarity Party: Peter Sonski
Constitution Party: Randall Terry
More candidates is not the answer.
Blessings

Friends
I usually don’t mix national politics with Kingdom building concerns, but I thought of something germane that has not been heretofore mentioned. In fact, I am no political scholar, legal expert, politically aligned, or even what most would call politically engaged, so I fully understand anyone who wishes to completely discount my opinions on the subject. Even so, here goes.
As a citizen I am all-too-well aware of the undermining effects of our nation’s insidious ideological polarization and party partisanship that disrupts and seeks to derail nearly every effort at genuine social progress. Most of the time it feels like we have elected unruly insolent whiny children to manage our governmental affairs. Not that I am personally any standard of righteousness, but I often feel social shame over the public and private conduct of our political “leaders”. That said, we know that our current President and Mr. Musk are ideologically aligned, in most, if not nearly all platform principles. Both are usually easily labeled “conservative”, and so both parties would be fighting for supremacy over any liberal political party. The emergence of a new political party whose platform is closely aligned with an existing party has a dilution effect, weakening the ability of both similar parties to garner sufficient electoral standing. If you are a conservative, you would do better to endorse and encourage a new liberal party, and vise-versa. I believe Mr. Musk is well aware of the potential for political suicide through voter dilution with the formation of His American party if he indeed expects it to actually attract voters. Therefore, I suspect the formation of this new party is strategic, calculated to draw support of undecided or unaligned voters before backing out at the last minute, and throwing all endorsement to the candidate with whom the party is already closely aligned. Maybe I’m just cynical, but I have a very low level of trust for the back-room machinations of politics.
Less than two-cents worth, I know
