Is it a Sin for Christian Parents to Allow Their Children to Trick-or-Treat?

I will be taking my young sons trick-or-treating, but I know a lot of parents opt for alternatives during Halloween. We live in the heart of the city in a close-knit neighborhood, so it’s always a good time of connecting with neighbors and fun for the kids. Curious to know what other parents do!
I found this Crosswalk article helpful in weighing the options:
no halloween, but no alternatives either. daughter is only 2. we will see how she reacts to our differences from society when shes older. personally i think it sends a mixed message to celebrate some alternative. no problem talking to people outside when they are there too. most people mean well and arent holding child sacrifice ceremonies, they just want the kids to have a good time. so i meet them where i can but will make no concessions to my conviction, as far as i can see.
