Thanks! I’m trying and I continue to request the prayers of other for God to grant me discernment and wisdom.

I like that there are not women’s and men’s or singles folders. Always trouble brewing in those on other forums. How did you decide to exclude those?

I do have one question…

It seems that this Crosswalk Forum is a reinvention or reiteration of some former site… What happened to the old one, and how can we intentionally avoid any problems that may have previously happened?

I expect the community to grow to the point where we will break those folders out… it is funny because back in the old forums the Women’s folder was very active… the Men’s not so much, however, it was highly frequented by… women.

I plan on restructuring the community at some point but first it needs more people and more activity. This current set up will suffice for now.

Ha… a walk down memory lane.

Once upon a time, Crosswalk had a chat and forums. We expanded the community by creating a community hub called Faith Community Network. It was a single forum that could be accessed through Salem Web Network’s [SWN] multiple brands, each with its own branding.

SWN closed those communities in 2012 to focus more on Facebook and other social networks. [You can see what the old one used to look like here.]

Things have changed a lot since then, and it was decided to re-launch the forums as a single brand for Crosswalk.com. We couldn’t bring back the old forum because of the outdated technology but I have to say that this one is quite robust and easily it’s equal… even if, sadly, lacking the discussions in the previous forum.

[Edited to add that we also launched a forums for the prayer request portion of our site www.praywithme.com ]

Ha-- an old php forum. I’m quite familiar. From there many sites went to Xenforo as a platform and I quite liked them. This one you are using I’m not quite used to yet. I don’t really like that the replies are hidden and do not appear in the stream of the thread. It makes the conversations disjointed and difficult to determine who one is replying to, and the context is lacking. Maybe it’s a setting that can be changed, so that all replies appear in the order of occurrence?

Looking forward to seeing your Chat function,

One thing I do is look at the top right of the post to see who is responding to:

Pop in and say hi

Yes, I see that of course-- I just don’t like it.

I’d prefer the thread to stream and flow like an actual conversation.

Is there anyone or any group of people who are not allowed to post in this forum?

All are welcome to participate as long as they agree to abide by the Terms of Service.

There may be some individuals who find that difficult and may end up being banned or restricted in some way.

I have banned a few scammer/spammers already.

I have a feature suggestion: What if you put a ‘follow’ option on here. Meaning you can say, “I like what this person says. I want to follow them.” Like you can do on Facebook etc.

I’ll see if that exists.

If I block someone. I will no longer see their posts. Will they still see mine?

If you block someone, you will no longer see their posts in the forum.

Because your posts are public, they will still be able to see what you’ve posted.

Moving onto the next burning question…

Is this your side job, or is this your main job?
