Being Concise (Title Has to be 15 Characters Long)

I like to be concise when I express myself on forums, but this website requires titles be at least 15 characters long and posts be at least 20 characters long. I don’t always need 15 or 20 characters, so I need to add a message at the end, explaining the title or post needs to be a certain number of characters long. I think being concise is a virtue - I don’t think anyone wants me to go on and on.

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
(Matthew 5:37)

We appreciate your concise contributions, Bob.

Mat 5:33 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.’
Mat 5:34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,
Mat 5:35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
Mat 5:36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.
Mat 5:37 Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.

Ok and this does make sense. But our friendly neighborhood website says, Uh-Uh you must speak more or not post! Something kind of wrong with that perhaps? I’ve ran into this on occasions. No it’s true though one can’t tell it from most of my posts lol. Get me in story telling mode and I can run on and on. And on and on!

Just read the context brother and the OT passages on this…

at 5:33 Again, you have heard that it was said to the ancients, You shall not break your nederim (vows), but you shall repay your vows to Hashem.[T.N.See VAYIKRA 19:12; BAMIDBAR 30:3; DEVARIM 23:22]
Mat 5:34 But I say to you, Do not swear shevuot (oaths) at all, neither by Shomayim, for it is the kes malchut of Hashem (throne of G-d),
Mat 5:35 nor by haaretz, for it is the hadom (footstool) of his feet, nor by Yerushalayim, for it is the kiryat melech rav (city of the great king, TEHILLIM 48:3[2]).
Mat 5:36 Neither are you to swear by your rosh, for you are not able to make one hair turn white or black.
Mat 5:37 But let your word be ken, ken (yes, yes) or lo, lo (no, no), but anything beyond this is lashon horah.
Retaliation
Mat 5:38 You have heard that it was said, AYIN TACHAT AYIN, SHEN TACHAT SHEN…
OJB.

Shalom.

Right, that’s what I’m saying and apparently this (Christian) website wont let us be succinct! (Update Update!)

Sometimes less is more!

I agree. I also agree with this,

Amen!

Unfortunately, we have these rules in place because of spammers. They annoy me sometimes, too.
