Bible verse for January

Here are my January Bible verses — less my agenda, more His faithfulness.

2 Corinthians 5:17

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

That feels like the right truth for January. I’m not dragging last year’s failures or fears into this one.

Isaiah 43:19

“Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

And, Proverbs 3:5–6 never stops being relevant.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

I’m starting 2026 holding onto Scripture a little more tightly than resolutions (though, admittedly, I have some of those too).

What are your January Bible verses, or New Year Bible verses?

First Amen! Some of mine I would like to keep with me going into 2026.

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.” Exodus 20:3

I will do my best not to put anything ahead of God. Not self, work, or yes, even family. As Jesus told us.

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Matthew 22:37

Then, something we should all remember, even when it seems difficult. We need not worry or fear.

“Therefore, take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, what shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye need all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:31-33

Why?

“[Rom 8:28 KJV] 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.” Romans 8:28

If we rely on ourselves or the world, 2026 may be worse than 2025. Let’s try to rely on God.

The most important thing for me in this coming year is to know in the Biblical sense and to more than just believe in my head that God loves me. This is the verse I hold on to.

The Lord your God in your midst,
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zephaniah 3:17
