Why do you think our modern image of angels is so different from what we read in the Bible?
Angels are often depicted as beautiful people with flowing robes and wings, or sweet, chubby babies. But then you read passages like Isaiah 6, where the seraphim have six wings, or other encounters where angels inspire fear and awe.
How did we get from the biblical descriptions to the angels we see in paintings, decorations, and popular culture? And also, do you think it matters how we picture them?
Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying: “ ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’who was, and is, and is to come.” Revelation 4:8
