Broken Hearted mom

Please pray with me for the broken heart beating in m chest. My son stopped all communication with me. No fight, nothing was wrong. I am hurting so much for something I don’t understand. My son is not talking to his kids either. So out of character. My family is my heart and it is broken. Thank you for your faithful prayers! In Jesus name we all agree, Amen

That sounds ominous. Do you know for certain he is alive? How old is your son?

He is 40and yes he is alive. I know Dr put him on a very high dose of Soboxin and it’s making getting a new job difficult. Employers don’t want to deal with the drug even medically supervision. Thank you for your prayers and questions!

Why did he stop talking to you or his kids? Is it becauae the drug is affecting his mind?

I don’t think the medicine caused the change because he never broke communication before. I don’t know why he has gone silent. There was no fighting or criticism or anything like that. I thought everything was good. That’s why it hurts my heart, none of it makes sense.

There are still a lot of questions. Like has anyone seen him alive? Can anyone do a welfare check on him?

He has talked to his younger brother and helped fix his car. I don’t know why I have been treated like the enemy. Like I said, we did not have any cross words or disagreement on any thing. I have heard that he has the awful bug that is going around. I hope he comes to his senses soon. God has his plans for my son and he is the only one able to make a way when we can’t find one. My faith is firmly planted in every word of the Bible. My pain does not have control over my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ!

I will offer prayers for you and your family throughout my life.

Buprenorphine, marketed under the name, Suboxone is a Schedule III, “less harmful”, opioid made by drug company, Indivior. It is used to combat withdrawal pains & ease cravings; But Suboxone is still an opioid — comprised of buprenorphine and a small amount of naloxone — that produces less of an euphoric effect than other opioids like heroin. This drug is meant to be used for a short-term treatment from addicton to illicit opioids or methadone.

While your son is still taking Suboxone, he is still addicted & is still in danger of relapse. Addiction is a long path for one to travel. Pray one day he can be truly clean.

Send him a card and let him know the door is always open. With addicts you must be repetitive and patient. Each person must come to that point where they feel they must quit.

“Legal drug” abuse now exceeds “illicit drug” abuse in America; it is a real epidemic.

God bless your son’s path to sobriety and your family,

As a former pharmacy assistant, nurse, former addict, and someone who has also used Suboxone, I want to gently add some perspective. Suboxone is not solely prescribed for addiction. Low-dose naltrexone, a related medication, has also shown effectiveness in treating chronic pain in conditions like fibromyalgia. For many people, especially with the opioid epidemic limiting pain management options, Suboxone may be one of the few ways they can function day to day.

I’m sure this mother knows why her son is taking the medication if she knows the name of the drug. I don’t think she came here for an education on prescribing or a debate about its use—she came here seeking support and prayers. Let’s hold her and her son in prayer, trusting God to guide and comfort them both.
