Hi- please pray for my heart to forgive my brother. He is consumed by heroin and I have not talked to him for over 18 months. He’s 67 and used since 17 off and on. He only calls when he needs money and I cut him off. I know God wants us to have a loving relationship but it’s really hard to talk to him. He’s used me for years and mentally and financially I can’t deal with him.

Wow. That’s a tough one. I will pray that God helps you to forgive. I’m sure you know that forgiving him doesn’t mean you have to associate with him or even take his calls. Tough love is hard and If he only calls when he wants money, that’s not a relationship but abuse. Does it help to know that your brother is sick and finding the money to support his habit takes precedence over all else? No relationship is possible as long as he’s doing drugs. I would pray for him and keep on praying for him once you find the will to forgive. Praying now.
