Can you break Lent on Sundays?

Is it okay to break your Lenten fast on Sundays?

I’ve heard from a few friends and people at church that they do, since Sundays are considered “feast days” and not part of the 40 fasting days. Personally I’m not planning to break mine on Sundays, but I’m curious what others have been taught or practice.

Is this a common thing? Does it depend on the church?

Can you break Lent on Sundays?

If you are considering a law or rule, you should ask yourself who enforces the rule and what is the consequence for breaking it.

Lent and Lentin requirements are not in the bible. So I wouldn’t worry about offending God.

If a church organization of other church members will be offended that you are not following their rules, they may ostracize you.

Gal_5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin. Romans 14:34

Interesting you bring this up because I’ve been familiar with/observed Lent my whole life, and this is the first year I heard this! So, in the past I haven’t broken my fast on Sundays. I do appreciate the idea of each Sunday being a “Little Easter,” as I’ve heard it called. I think breaking your fast (from sweets, social media, alcohol, etc.) on Sundays during Lent could actually be a helpful spiritual rhythm if you think of it that way.
