Around this time of year, I always notice how many small acts of kindness seem to pop up everywhere — people picking up an extra toy for a local drive, dropping off canned goods, or quietly helping someone who needs a little support. There’s something really beautiful about how generosity shows up in so many different forms, big and small.
What I love most is how personal it is. Some people give through volunteering, others through donations, and many through simple everyday kindness that never gets seen or talked about. It’s one of my favorite parts of the Christmas season, watching people find their own unique ways to bring a bit more light into the world.
Would it not be great if this were a daily thing, Ellenvera, instead of a yearly thing merely around the holidays?
“Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.” Proverbs 22:9
If you truly want to be blessed by God, be a blessing to others.
“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:9
Yes, I agree, it is great to see this around the Holidays. As children of God, why do we not try to set a trend and do this all the time? Be blessed by being a blessing.
Yes, I love the giving spirit this time of year, as well. It’s always convicting and also a wonderful reminder to think of others outside my own circle.
I have a few organizations I like to donate to or acts of service I like to participate in every year, but sometimes I feel a sense of paralysis because there is so much need and so many ways to give and serve.
Anyone have any guidance for how to choose where to spend your time, effort, and money when you give?
I have been doing this for the past few years as well! I have a smaller group of people that I exchange gifts with, so each person gets their special homemade gift! It is super fun around the holidays, and some of my relatives have taken to sending me recipe options that they want to try!! There are some family members that I make art for, too! So fun!
Pray. Research. Research. Pray. Research. Make sure that the money is going where it ought to be and not in someone’s pockets. Sadl,y this time of year there are a lot of scams out there.
Yes! That is why it is challenging. I want to focus more on giving/volunteering locally. I think it’s easier to know where the money/resources are going when it’s an organization in my own city.
Yup, @DaughterOfEve24 . If you know of a need in your community, you can always tell your local Church and or try to help out directly. It does not have to be earth-moving to be world-changing.
