Chick Tracts Are Awful

I am shocked that people still use them. I had one I had one behind the wiper blade of my car a few years ago that showed nuns and priests burning in hell. Whoever left it there must have thought my car was Catholic.

A former pastor still uses them. :face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:

Have you used them as a witnessing tool?

Stupid question: “Chick Tracts”? I’ve never heard of them. I know tracts, of course.

My Grandmother has been using them since before I was born.

Fine…but what ARE they???

Sorry. Chick tracks are basically illustrated Gospel tracts. They’re very engaging and appeal especially to kids and teens. My Grandmother always gives them out around Halloween. The theology in some of them is questionable, but it gets the point across (in my opinion).

Chick Tracts are horrible, anti Catholic tracts thst depict folks burning in hell and one had a priest assaulting a little boy, “turning” him gay.

Others show folks burning in hell for:

Listening to rock music

Using a modern Bible translation

Being friends with Hindus

And the list goes on and on. Jack Chick was an extreme fundamentalist and published these for decades. They are still around. You can Google their website. The super controversial ones that were discontinued are considered collectors items and worth a bit of money.

And this is not a stupid question. Outside of fundie circles, they seem to be dying in popularity so you are blessed enough not to have had one stuck in your door.

Wow! :exploding_head: I’ve never seen those ones before! Where in the bible do they find basis for that!? Thank God my grandmother never bought those ones before! I love Christian Rock. Am I going to hell? No! I use the NASB1995 and the NLT. Am I going to hell? No! What’s wrong with these people?

Look on their website. They list the ones in current production. His way of thinking was very popular in the 1970s. I heard many a sermon about Contemporary music. And the King James only crowd is still around and active But if your grandmother has the one about aliens from space or the priest pedophile she can eBay those for $$!

You know, now that I’m thinking about it, not all of them are bad. Some of them are good. For example, you can’t say that someone is going to hell based off the bad things they did in their life. In the same way, you can’t say the Chick Tracts are evil and Satanic based off a couple of bad ones.

When you purchase them, you purchase from the organization that has put out the horrific ones. That, of course, is a personal choice.

Yeah, but they’re also an organization that has stopped putting out the horrific ones.

The anti catholic ones are still printed, including one claiming the Pope is the antichrist.

Still printed: “The Attack” that makes unfounded claims that the KJV is under attack and blames other translations.

Anti-evolution tracts are still printed

Tracts misrepresenting what other religions believe are still in print.

“The Attack” makes no such claims. I’ve read it. It’s simply saying that people went through a lot to get the Word of God out there available to everyone and that Satan was trying hard to get rid of it. By the way, do you seriously believe in evolution? There is absolutely no scripture in the bible that (in context) supports evolution.

Yes I believe in evolution. The Bible is not a scientific study. Allegory and ancient people trying to explain concepts beyond their knowledge is common throughout scripture. I also believe in airplanes and baseball. It is hard to believe people still reject science.

DNA has shown that we share a common genetic ancestor with the great apes, including 98% of our DNA. No doubt God used evolution as a method of creation.

I have a copy of the tract on the King James somewhere. I will try to find it and point out the historical errors they claim- and support their KJV only views.

Our DNA is actually only an 85% match to an ape. At Maximum.* And you said,

You of all people know that reliable sources are needed before making a solid statement. What are your sources? My source (Genesis Chapter 2) doesn’t support your statement.

*(Read this article: ICR’s New In-Depth Science Book: Chimps and Humans | The Institute for Creation Research)

This conversation is getting off-topic. Do you want to create a topic dealing with this issue, or do you want me to do it? I don’t really like science, but I love the truth.

First, the Institute of Creation Research is NOT a reliable source of any kind. It is not peer reviewed It is laughable. And scripture is, once again , not a science book. Chimpanzees share 98% of their DNA with humans. FACT. Do you really want me to list hundreds of peer reviewed articles on the topic?

The sun does not rise and set. The Earth spins and rotates.

Biblical authors simply did not have the knowledge to understand the science.

No need to start a new thread. Watch a video of Bill Nye destroying Ken Hamm.

Of course. Who doesn’t know that.

So, it’s laughable just because it’s not peer reviewed? Even if that were valid it wouldn’t matter because the article says, and I quote: “He presents his own research demonstrating that instead of a 98+% similarity, human-chimp genome matches are about 84%—results that secular scientists are beginning to echo.” @Historyprof, you are making all of these claims, but they’re unfounded. At least, they’re factually unfounded; you’re saying things based of emotions. Use logic instead.
