I have noticed there are a lot more Christians cussing today. My question is why do Christians think it is ok to cuss and use bad words?
I wrote this long ago. It has only gotten much worse in our mindless times…
Could you perhaps include a short summary along with the link?
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Eph 4:29
I just listened to a video last night about cussing.
The guy on video said across the board it was wrong.
I think finding words to just replace cuss words is very questionable as well even if they sound “pleasant.” For example: hells bells.
I have a friend who can’t say even a sentence without a cuss word in it. She apologizes often cause she knows how I feel. It’s very vulgar and rude.
Imagine hearing a known Believer being vulgar and rude. Eph 4:29 thrown out the window.
I don’t know why some Christian’s think it’s ok to cuss I guess without being judgmental I might add that perhaps they haven’t read the Bible yet and haven’t studied Gods word enough to know the truth about what God really does say about cussing and his rules on the topic. It all depends on whether or not your talking about Christians that have been christians all their life and that have grown up in the church hearing Gods word all the time or maybe your talking about a Born again Christian that has just woken up one day and suddenly has decided that life was out of control and they had messed it up and new God had existed though however tried to live life on their own terms but it didn’t work out so they finally handed it over to God and they have a connection with him by heart but are a little behind in studying his word so they are still learning his ways and old habits die hard however have faith and are praying everyday for protection against temptation but still have spiritual warfare going on so I guess you could see it from this point of view. And from my own perspective from what I have witnessed, seen, heard and read about when a sinner suddenly turns away from sin and turns towards Christ and accepts him as our saviour and our one true God who reigns above it all. The enemy goes “oh no you don’t!! And he fights and if you are strong in your faith he goes for the ones he knows you care about the most and because your only just starting your journey as a Christian this can either derail your journey with Christ because it all becomes too much or this could even strengthen your relationship with Christ as it only pushes you into his loving protective arms even more. Now back onto the cussing subject I’m speaking from experience here I use to cuss all the time and now I try every day so hard not too but sometimes it just slips out by accident but afterwards I feel so guilty that I beg for forgiveness and I wonder if I’ve done enough or if I’ve been forgiven because I keep stumbling even though I’m trying so hard. But I did find this verse in the Bible.
[Colossians 3:8]
8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
It’s Gods word we must follow it…… I’m fearful of God come Judgment Day!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It seems to me that people who have never cussed then just start cussing, that concerns me. Maybe it is what you say that they get fed up with life and start conforming to this world. One thing I must ask, when you say fearful of Gods judgement are you afraid of it?
Yes that is exactly what I was talking about. I had a friend for 10 years. She never said a cuss word at least that I heard. Then all of a sudden she started cussing after befriending someone that cussed. Is she trying to make this other friend more comfortable? I am just not sure.
