My wife had a knee replacement last year and is planning to get her other knee replaced in a couple weeks. She cannot kneel without discomfort, and pain. I know of others who have similar issues.
IMO, you could kneel, lie prostrate and yet your hearts could be far away, whilst standing or sitting, and be fully in the spirit, before the throne.
I havent read the entire thread but I do have a couple things, pardon me if it’s already been said…
First off, if you notice in Matthew 6 where Jesus talks about Fasting,..He puts Fasting on the same level as Praying! So fasting is very important.
The 2nd thing I have is, in Matthew 6 it says first how not to do it, then how to do it right. It says nothing about posture. The Lord looks at the posture of your heart and not your body. Your heart.
I just wish to point out an observance on the “prayer styles” of the major 3 Abrahamic religions; Islam, Judaism and Christianity. This is in no way, shape, form or fashion presented as 100% fact and represents only my understanding.
(In short, as a human I am prone to be wrong from time to time and this very well may be one of those times.)
Muslims: Prayer posture (strict) = On knees with face to the floor, body facing east.
Jews: Prayer posture (simi-strict) = Standing and facing a wall.
Christians: Prayer posture (loose) = Kneeling; standing; sitting; laying down; face down; face up; face covered; hands clasped together, hands palms together or hands spread and lifted to heaven.
I think that says a lot in support of the posture of the body not being important. Especially in so far as Christianity is concerned.
