I saw something making the rounds again that originally got attention a couple of years ago, so I decided to test it for myself.
Coca-Cola’s personalized bottle/can feature would not allow me to use “I love Jesus.” Their fine print DOES say names or phrases may be rejected if they are religious or political in nature, which I can understand as a general policy.
But when you try “I love Satan,” it IS allowed. I also tried “Buddah,” and that was allowed. So if the goal is simply to filter religious references, the filter certainly doesn’t seem to be applying that rule consistently.
Coca-Cola does acknowledge in the fine print that the system may get things wrong and gives people a way to ask for a review, so this could simply be a poorly designed automated filter. But, this feature was made available in like 2024 and people complained about it then and it’s still happening now in 2026, so clearly they’re not trying that hard.
What do you think? Is this just a faulty automated filter, or does the inconsistency concern you?
