I’ve been reading up on the Daniel Fast and the Scriptures behind it.
I’m considering doing a short Daniel Fast. I’ve been working on my health for over a year now, so I was thinking this might be a good way to tie together health and faith.
Have you ever done the Daniel Fast? What did you learn through it, spiritually or practically?
I’d love to hear your experience or any advice you’d offer someone new to this kind of thing.
I dont know about the Daniel fast, but i do know fasting is good for you. It helps you heal the whole body. It is proven to kill cancer and other infections in the body. It was proven to even cure Hep.C in patients. Fasting is very good for the body and the soul. It is also a big step in faith, i think you will like it. I pray it shines light on whatever it is you are looking for by doing this and pray you have a good experience through it. Its a great way to tie health and faith together in my opinion
Not exactly the Daniel Fast, but last year for Lent I gave up sugar, and it really was impactful. Of course, there were the health benefits, but much more than that, it was so helpful to think about God every time I wanted to reach for a dessert, sugary drink, candy, etc. I think my mind was focused on God more during those six or so weeks than it has been in a very long time. It was not easy, but it also made celebrating Easter and enjoying Easter treats even sweeter and more meaningful. The connection between our bodies and our spiritual practices I think is often downplayed, but fasting is a great way to be drawn back to this connection. Definitely recommend, at least for a season!
oh yeah there is a lot to fasting really, i got into it before and resarched some things and found a lot of good things to fasting. Depending on what fast you do a water fast or a juice fast or both. Of course you can do nothing at all fast but wouldnt recommend that for very long the body needs water. Do a 7 day water only or juice fast and you will feel the difference. The more days you do the better, but harder it gets. And anymore than 10 days you have to be careful and make sure your body can handle the shock it is about to be put through. People have done 30 day water only and 30 day juice back to back and they say it is life changing. I hope you have a great experience through your fast and learn more about yourself, and get closer with God. Everytime you feel hungry or weak you are supposed to pray and talk to our father and thats what brings you closer to him.
I have done “intermittent fasting” and am surprised to see you say it gets harder. I feel like once the first day is behind me, I almost have to remind myself to eat when it’s time.
