Hello brothers and sisters. I’m in Calgary Alberta and looking to organize a retirement community of tiny houses. Open to the USA and bc. I know I can’t handle these winters any more. Empty nester.
Investment style. Completely legal. Open discussion. Everyone can bring Thier skill set to the community for local options to support the community. I saw a 7nth day Adventist that’s doing it but I only want Christian. Thoughts?
@Fallen this is an idea that’s popping up everywhere. Even my pastor has suggested the church by up a large piece of land, build on it and make it a Christian community.
Personally I think this is a great idea! But there’s a lot that goes into it. Don’t fall for the ads on social media. They just want your money.
I’ve suggested this idea to a friend up north who has over 100 acres of land and he’s trying to attract Christians to his land.
Where in Alberta are you? My kids were born in Red Deer, I lived in Calgary for about a year, then on CFB Penhold for about 4 years, then we were transferred to CFB Trenton.
I miss Alberta. I’ve always loved Alberta.
These are the questions I would have for you:
Where do you want to organize this community?
How much will it cost?
What if a person doesn’t have the financial means to purchase land or a house?
What is the age limit? Would families be welcome? What about pets? Would it be self-sustaining? How reliant on local, state and federal govts would it be? Will there be room to grow food and livestock? This is important considering the way our economy here in chinada is going.
Iam not sure where, as my post says. This is preliminary and just an open discussion as I can’t find any Christian tiny house communities and was inspired by the little that I heard being done by 7th day adventists.
I am thinking it should be somewhere warmer with a growing season and that’s not too harsh of winters. So probly up north would not suffice, unfortunately though I wish it would since you have someone already interested in doing it up north.
I don’t know how much it will cost or any particulars but if no one is organizing then I must try. I don’t have a lot of money either. This is exploratory to find interest and ideas to possibly/hopefully get one going with room to grow and have a Christian community. I love and hope the Alberta independence comes to pass but who knows how long that would take. So, southern albetta, the Okanagan, or somewhere else. BC is frightening as it’s a liberal/owo stronghold and land is now up for grabs by all natives.
Sorry, I didn’t address all your questions. I think all ages, if there needs to be a section say that is for elders only so be it. I would think pets welcome. All nmormal life and as many self supporting functions as necessary or support the community. Have you seen the earth ships of New Mexico done years ago? They are spread out quite a bit from what I’ve seen. Google Search This is a house in Norway that’s wrapped in greenhouse. I am surprised that I can’t find any Christian tiny house groups. Google Search another greenhouse home. I don’t know how reliant it would be on any government. I’m not even aware of any that are reliant. I think it would be awesome to be a group farm, as self sufficient as possible. Also with a variety of skills people can bring. I think it’s important that people are Christian and a can do attitude for longevity. I think all the livestock and what not would be great. It would be great to make a profit off work as well as self-sustaining. Just talk at this point bu it has to start somewhere somehow.
You’re so kind. thank you for your offer. I don’t really desire to start something from scratch but join one if I could. So if you find any Christian communities you could share, that would be much appreciated. I found this utube presentation about someone starting a community, in the states I believe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hiLNnzbj8o
I don’t have any for sale and am not affiliated with any. But you can just google builders. Maybe if this comes to pass we could start building them. I’ve seen them stacked too as well to be like city living. I spent a yr watching some Australian guy go around visiting ppl who where doing it individually. I’m hoping to find or crest a Christian community. That would be great!!!
Ok, so on fecesbook, yes, you read that right, there are some “Christian” communities..but it’s fecesbook so I can’t truly very if they are true Christians. However, my pastor has been tossing the idea out there - to start a Christian community. The church, congregation and all, would collectively buy land, hire contractors, lawyers, whatever it would take to buy and own the land for development. But here, in Chinada, no one owns land except the natives. We’re seeing people have their land, their homes taken back by natives. It’s getting a bit tense in some places.
But his idea is a GOOD idea! If enough people come together, and share what little they have “…they were continually devoting themselves to the apostels’ teachings and to fellowship, in the breaking of bread and to prayer” Acts 2:42 NASB
Devoted to the apostles’ teachings. If you are devoted to the Gospel, to the Bible, and you walk in His ways, and you learn His ways, and you live your life FOR Christ, and believe He is the Son of God who came and died for our sins, and was resurrected by the Spirit of God, and you spend your waking time meditating on the Gospel, the TRUE Gospel, and learning from it, and from those who have walked this path longer, then I’d say you’re Christian. So, that could be a vetting conversation for possible residents.
@Inmate..please..elaborate this verse for me. Fellowship, breaking bread (Ihave pages of notes about what that phrase means to me about Jesus) and prayer. They WERE a community. Living beside each other or close by..but didn’t haven’t non-Christians living in their community, until the non-Christians got saved! What a great community!
I have been thinking about that myself, I live in a big old house alone and I think with the end times upon us that I might be able to start an in home Bible study. Or even perhaps be a part of the Underground RR for future persecution times?
It’s a good idea but I have to work on that idea some more. I bought a whole case of Bibles and have gave some away, and hid others in the walls, no metal detector would ever find them all!
Plus, I don’t even know the Lord’s will about that? I am the Steward of this house, not the owner, that would be Jesus…
