Your first statement is correct.
DOGE was created by Trump without any approval by Congress. Therefore, it has no official authority. It is his way of circumventing Congressional oversight. He appointed a person to head the new agency who has not been approved by Congress.
DOGE operates OUTSIDE THE LAW. PERIOD.
In my opinion, DOGE is absolutely necessary in order to reduce the power of the legislative branch and to transition into a government where the Executive branch holds all the power.
The executive branch decides who the justices are. And they will ensure that the law is followed as it is set by the Executive branch from here on after, by whoever the President is going forward.
And when you have as much division as we do in this country, maybe having one person in charge is for the very best.
One person to set the narrative. One person to set the national faith. One person to set the course going forward.

The President doesnāt need the approval of Congress to create or rename, or reorganize any department of government. He has the authority to do so without Congressional approval. But Republicans control both the House and the Senate, so even if Congressional approval was needed, he would likely have it. It isnāt.
So far, Congress has approved each and every one of his Cabinet nomineesāas an example of the Congressional approval process you seem so concerned about @Benny DOGE does have the authority to act, because it is acting under the authority of the President. --Like the military, actually. Heās Commander in Chief, and Chief of DOGE at the same time. He made Pete Hegseth in charge of one, and Elon Musk in charge of the other. All within his authority to appoint. Cabinet positions require Congressional approval, political appointees do not.
The USDS was created by Obama-- to bring Obamacare online. (no congressional approval ever). Trump just repurposed it.
Regardless-- Trump has the approval of the American people. He won the election including the popular vote and thatās all the approval he needs to do the things that need doing. 54% of Americans also approve of DOGE specifically. You might not be one of them, but thatās on you.

To find waste, fraud, and abuse of the Federal Budget.
Believe it or not we actually have a budget.
That budget comes preloaded with overspending.
Right now , 3/13/25 we are facing a government shutdown because Congress did not budget correctly.
That is just not right.
The preamble of the Constitution spells out exactly how the Federal government should spend its (our) money.
A more perfect Union - keeping the states peaceful with each other.
Establish Justice - the Federal Courts
Insure domestic Tranquility - the National Guard
Provide for the common defence - Armed forces
promote the general Welfare - Social security, Medicare
Secure the Blessings of Liberty - leave law abiding people alone so they can pursue their dreams
