Please pray for me as my depression is still getting worse. This morning I just wanted to be dead. Speak to Jesus on my behalf because I can’t take anymore. My husband says he wants to leave me (and I can’t blame him) all I can do is cry all day until it’s bedtime again. I’m really at the end of my tether. I can’t function. Please ask Jesus to heal me. Thank you so much.
I know people who suffer from depression. Not as a result of a situation, but clinical depression. There have been a number of Christians who also have this illness. Some of them are great names from the past like Charles Spurgeon.
You didn’t give your name, but no matter. I will pray for you and ask that the Lord leads you in the right direction to overcome. Charles Spurgeon dealt with depression throughout his life, but it didn’t stop him from serving and trusting God.
Lord Jesus,
You are the God who heals and the one we come to. This woman who reached out to us has asked for prayer and now I pray on her behalf. You Lord know what the problem is and where healing needs to take place. In your mercy and great love of her, I ask that you would give her peace of mind and still and peaceful feelings. Lead her in the way she should go and give her husband patience and insight that he might be by her side. Let her see your mighty hand of grace at work and have mercy. Thank you Lord Jesus for hearing me.
amen
There are a number of experiments you can do to see if you can take depression down a notch or two. The problem is that depressed people tend not to want to experiment. You might ask your husband to help by asking you what the results were of a particular experiment that day. For example, you might try taking a multivitamin with minerals as a supplement every day for two weeks and see if you notice any change. Depression can be aggravated by nutritional deficiencies.
Sometimes exercise can produce chemicals in the body that can reduce depression. You might try going swimming once a day for a couple of weeks to see if that helps.
If you are very social, you might experiment with cutting back some. If you are more isolated, you might try doing something with a church group or book club to see if more social contact is helpful.
You might experiment with a hobby that is artistic such as weaving, painting, or music.
You might experiment with shorter or longer sleep periods.
There are many thing to experiment with and if your husband tracks what seems to work, you might find it can be reduced to manageable levels.
I am sorry you are suffering from depression, do you have medication and are you taking it?
If you are, you need to go back to your doctor for stronger medication.
Depression is an illness like flu and needs the apropriate medication to treat it.
Please speak to your doctor.
I gave some verses to another person here suffering from anxiety and panic attacks and now I will share them with you. Keep them close by and read them often. I have chronic depression and anxiety. These verses help me when the meds don’t. I pray for your healing. God loves and cares about you.
