Desperate and don't know what to do

I became a believer in 2017, I went to a church that was telling me that the sin in my life was my problem…I just can’t seem to forget that… no matter the hours I spend in the bible I see a angry God who is always beating me…last night I decided to stop following… I slept soundly for the first time in 7 years since going to church… this came through my inbox today…I feel this may be Jesus the jesus that heals not someone always angry with me…but still i am frightened and not at peace again…

Hi,
Cindie, something is wrong if you don’t have peace in your heart.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. KJV

Peace is given.
But it is not effective until you receive it.
So why haven’t you received the peace Jesus is talking about?
Why do you feel like God is “beating you up?”

Let’s look at the most basic way we are told to pray, The Lord’s Prayer:

Matthew 6:9-13 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. KJV

So here we a stipulation to being forgiven.
We are forgiven our debts (sins) as we forgive the people who sin against us.
So if you don’t have that kind if peace, could it be that you still have not forgiven someone in your life?
That person could also be you.
Have you forgiven yourself?

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. KJV

You are a new creature in Christ.
Now even so, your Christian walk will not be perfect.
You will sin along the way.
How do I know this?
I have been walking with Jesus for over 60 years.
And guess what, I am not perfect.
I know, I know, big shock; I still sin.
I don’t want to, but I still do.
When I do son I know it immediately because the joy in my heart goes away.
It doesn’t come back until I ask to be forgiven.

I am going to leave you with one more verse:

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

See those words at the end, “all? Unrighteousness.”"
Notice it doesn’t say except Cindie’s.
So try walking as the forgiven. believer that you have become.
Forgive others the way you have been forgiven.
Forgive yourself and allow yourself to be forgiven.
I hope this helps you.

Blessings
