- No they do not go to hell
- Sadly, they do go to hell
- I don’t know
If we are born with a carnal nature, inbred sin, do babies go to hell?
Where does the magical age of accountability (12) come from?

Babies going to Hell is an almost entirely Roman Catholic notion, arising almost entirely out of Augustine’s notion of original sin, although even Augustine generously speculated that unbaptized babies’ torment might be less than that of, say, Ted Bundy’s. This notion of original sin (i.e., we are born sinful, as opposed to being born with a propensity to sin) has been pretty thoroughly discredited. The age of accountability (I’ve seen suggestions as late as 25!) is simply a useful fiction, I personally don’t think anyone goes to Hell, or that there is a Hell, or that the notion of Hell makes any sense whatsoever in the context of any God I can possibly imagine, so the question is purely academic to me.
No one of any goes to anywhere except the grave or crematorium.
