Emotional intimacy is SO much more important than I ever realized when I was younger. If I could go back and tell my first-married self any one piece of advice, it would be TALK MORE.
This is just one aspect of transitioning from the selfishness of the flesh to walking in the selfless love of others by the Spirit.
Our world promotes selfishness and self-indulgence. This resonates with youth. The sooner we can work to reduce this consumptive element in our lives, the sooner we can build that which lasts.

Marriage is such a refining process! It’s hard but so, so rewarding when you put in the work. And sometimes the work is just being truly vulnerable. At least, that’s what I’ve learned over a decade in!
