There was a time when millions of people watched the same television programs, heard the same news broadcasts, or listened to the same popular songs. The next day, people often had something in common to talk about.
Today we have almost unlimited choices, and each of us can live in a very different media world.
Do you think having so many choices has made life better, or have we lost something by having fewer experiences that almost everyone shares?
I do not think we have more choices, just a difference in avenue. We still get number-one movies, songs, dance trends, stupid trends, AKA X and TikTok. What used to take some effort- “Girly magazines” or “Gossip” is now at the press of a button. It does not even have to be on computers on desks; we carry them in our pockets.
Then again, if you are talking about physical shared experience, you may have a point.
