Do you ever feel like you’re just going through the motions?

Sometimes I notice that I’m doing the “right” things, praying, reading, showing up, but it feels a bit routine.

Not necessarily in a bad way, just not as alive as I expected.

I’m curious if others experience that too, and what helps bring it back to something more real.

Life has seasons and we see that in the lives of those we read about in the Bible and today too. Faith has seasons. Sometimes our faith feels so strong and other times, while still believing, it can feel weak or dull.
What I do to build myself up is to remember as vividly as I can, all those times God answered my prayers or I saw His hand in the situation. Sometimes the situation for me is not God’s ability to answer, but if God will answer. Remembering the many times He has answered builds me up again.
We read about great Christians of the past and present and what we read is not about their dessert time, but the time God answered. I try to keep that in mind.
When our expectations are not being met, we need to look at our expectations. There’s nothing wrong or unusual when it feels like routine. The important thing is what we do and not what we feel. This is what I tell myself too when I’m in such a place.
