“Do you have a favorite Christmas scent that brings back memories?”

Certain smells seem to bring Christmas rushing back — pine trees, cinnamon, candles, cookies in the oven, even the smell of cold winter air.

Is there a Christmas scent that instantly takes you back to a special memory or tradition?

Popcorn and Cookies! I grew up poor, and as a child I remember my mother sewing popcorn onto thread to decorate the house with. We would also make fake cookie ornaments by substituting the sugar in cookie dough with salt, embedding wire hooks, and baking them. They come out as hard as rocks and can be “iced” with paints. Many types of cookies can be done this way and they can last from Christmas to Christmas. Woe to those who try to eat one though.

I would have to say the smell of food, My grandmother would be cooking for like two days. Anytime I went into the kitchen all I smelled wasd Ham, raisen sauce, fudge, pies, so on. It filled the house every Holiday. Loved it.
