Do you have a simple good-night prayer you go back to when your mind won’t shut off?

Yes, when my thoughts are racing, I don’t try to say much at all. I tend to return to something very simple, almost childlike, because complexity just keeps my brain engaged.

Something like: “God, I place this day in Your hands. What I couldn’t finish, You can hold. What I can’t control, I release. Thank You for being here with me. Give me rest.”

For me, the power isn’t in wording but in repetition. Familiar prayers become like an exhale, they let the body and mind settle without needing to solve anything first.

This isn’t only a goodnight prayer, but I love repeating Julian of Norwich’s words:

“All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.”

I find so much comfort in these simple words and I turn to them in many circumstances.
