Do you let your children have cellphones?

At what age do you allow your child to have a cellphone?

We got our daughters cellphones - NOT smartphones - when they were in elementary school. The main reason was because our older daughter actually had a stalker and it was for her and her sister’s safety.

I didn’t allow them, but if they were in school now, I would diue to safety concerns- but with some sort of monitoring.

I do but monitor what they use it for.

How do you go about monitoring it?

really interested in answer to @Fritzpw_Admin ‘s question, if it happens. my bro got phones for his kids, saying he monitors them, but then totally was unaware of the filth theyd unearthed with it. and then didnt seem to care too much, other than to tell his son to avoid that site, what a joke.

NOT saying the user here is the same way- i am just giving context for why im interested to see user’s approach which may differ from my secular brother.

personally, no cell phone at all, unless Big Brother is one day removed from it. i hate using my own cell phone but found no real landlines exist anymore- its all “digital voice,” so still easy for Big Brother to monitor. to take a stand, i will protect my kids until this maybe one day changes. ill tell them, “when youre 18 you can do what you want.”
