I know this can be a controversial topic!
Growing up, we always opened gifts on Christmas Eve. My family has a Scandinavian background, so I think it may have been a tradition that came from this. When we got married, my husband thought opening gifts on Christmas Eve was crazy! I converted to my husband’s tradition, so we now open gifts with our children on Christmas Day.
Also, in Norway, today (the 23rd) is also known as “Lille Julaften” (Little Christmas Eve), so it kind of feels like a holiday itself.
