We are connected to news, opinions, and updates almost nonstop now.
Sometimes I wonder if having access to so much information all the time makes it harder for people to slow down mentally and emotionally.

Why are you constantly updating your knowledge of whats in the news?
May I suggest one checks the news twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening.
If anything vital happens other people will tell you.
I would urge you to be careful. That old adage is still true. Garbage in, garbage out. Whatever we consume the most of, is what will affect us the most. It’s ok to stay informed, but nibble on the news, feast on the Word.

Yes. 100% think being connected makes it harder to feel at peace. Especially if you’re on social media every day.
Yes. This is why I go offline every Saturday. No internet, phone, or anything that will break my peace. The World and all its problems will be there on Sunday. Remember what Jesus said.
“Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
Peter
From my perspective, it seems even the world is having more-and-more difficulty denying the deleterious effect of information overload that you point out. Mouthy media outlets sensationalize every story, insolent influencers pry into every corner of daily life, every scrap of information is festooned and tagged with multiple sales temptations and intrusive click-bait enticements, and it is all packaged to fit into your eye, highly concentrated to seep into your mind in seconds. In recent months I have heard some highly dependent information junkies decry their situation, recognize their own sorry addiction, purpose to change, but find themselves unable to break its stronghold. Recognizing this stronghold in their life is realized by both Spiritual and unspiritual people. The situation worsens in the Church at the same rate as outside (it seems to me, I have no real data here. God may hold a different opinion, I’m aware.) The Church does have her own stronghold, a decisive advantage. The children of God, who are the beloved Bride of Christ do have The Omnipotent One as our refuge (stronghold) and strength, A very present help in trouble.
Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though its waters roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with its swelling. Psalm 46:1-3
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6
Every unholy thought that finds its way before our eyes through phones, televisions, computers, etc. must be “taken captive to the obedience of Christ”. God’s weapons are sufficiently mighty for pulling down strongholds… when our obedience is fufilled; that is, when we purpose to obey first and foremost.
Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21
We have weapons, let’s wield them in righteousness.
