It can feel like there’s a lot of division lately.
But I sometimes wonder if people have always had different views, and now we just hear them more openly.
Curious how others see that.

I think it’s more vocal, and I also feel alot of the views are spoken loudly for attention seeking, You can go viral or seek a following for proclaiming loudy for or against certain things, even if you don’t even care either way.
people just want to be noticed, and it’s the easiest way to do so nowdays.
I think it’s primarily that there are so many more ways to hear the opinions of others today. Not only print, TV, and radio, but a myriad of social media channels and digital outlets. I also think that our shortening attention spans contribute to all these hot takes and gut-reaction opinions. Not many people read long articles explaining what’s going on politically, economically, etc. but almost all of us hear brief sound bites or see short tweets, reels, etc. It’s difficult not to allow that to influence us.
In the past people were more divided because they differed in what they believed to be truth. Today truth is not as important to most as feeling good is. The level of selfishness has increased dramatically so the level of volume has also.
