Do you think we underestimate the importance of gratitude?

With so much attention given to problems, criticism, and what is lacking, I sometimes wonder if gratitude has become undervalued.

Do you think intentionally practicing gratitude changes the way people see the world, or is gratitude simply a natural response when things are going well?

There are very few places in the Bible where we are plainly told what God’s will is for us. Being thankful is one of those places.
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1Thess 5:18
So yes, I do think we underestimate the importance of being grateful or thankful. It says here in ALL circumstances and not For our circumstances which may not be great. Cultivating an attitude of thankfulness changes one’s perspective on life as we learn to appreciate those things we have taken for granted. If nothing else, we can by grateful for the promises given us knowing that they are ours, if not yet ours.

Gratitude is simply a measure of humility and humility is simply a measure of how we have come to abide in truth.

I’m always grateful (haha) for reminders to practice gratitude. I do think it’s truly transformative. I think the problem is that we sometimes conflate gratitude with saying everything is great or at least fine, but I think the truth is that gratitude is most transformative when we choose it even when things are not fine and we are facing challenges and trials.

Some may want to join me on this gratitude prayer journey as well. :slightly_smiling_face:
