When it comes to Genesis, people land in different places on authorship. Some see Moses as the primary writer, others think it developed over time with multiple sources or editors.
I sometimes wonder how much that changes how we read it. For some, authorship is closely tied to trust. For others, the meaning and message of the text carry more weight than how it came together.
Maybe it’s both. Understanding the background can add depth, but the text also stands on its own in what it communicates.
Knowing the human author can lend a bit more context to understanding. However, the ultimate author should be understood to be God.
2Ti_3:16 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness:
Isa 55:10 For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, and giveth seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
Isa 55:11 so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
