Faith deals with serious things, but that doesn’t mean Christians have to be serious every moment of the day.
Do you think humor and laughter have an important place in the Christian life? Have you ever experienced a moment at church, in a Bible study, or with other believers when laughter brought people closer together?
I definitely think humor has a place in our faith. There’s a time to be serious, but there’s also something really good about being able to laugh together. Christian fellowship can include not taking ourselves too seriously.
I agree completely. Faith is serious business, but taking God seriously doesn’t mean we have to take ourselves so seriously all the time! Laughter and humor are true gifts. Proverbs 17:22 reminds us that “a cheerful heart is good medicine,” and shared laughter has a unique way of breaking down walls, building trust, and creating real warmth in a community.
Some of the closest moments in Bible studies or church groups happen when people can laugh together. Whether it’s over a funny misunderstanding, an off-the-cuff comment, or just enjoying each other’s company. It reminds us that we’re a family, not just a solemn gathering, and that joy is meant to be lived out loud.

I think the Lord wants us to be happy, and humor is part of happiness, I think.
Isaiah had a lot of fun mocking pagan idols:
Isa 46:1 Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.
Isa 46:2 They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity.
Isa 46:3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

The idols are burdens to the poor beasts carrying around. The God of Israel, by contrast, carries his people.
Yes—It’s a good thing to laugh. God definitely has a sense of Humor–look at the platypus.
There is definitely humor in the Bible too. One place I always have to laugh is here in John 4:
He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
Her response is actually quite funny. He tells her point blank “you have had five husbands”.
She responds then very quickly changes the subject. This is actually quite humorous.
*Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem".
I don’t think that God wants Pastors to be stand-up comics----but I think he has given some of them quite a gift in mixing a serious message with humor. We tend to listen to things better when things are interspersed with laughs also.
