Does the Bible Say the Earth is Flat (and does that mean it's not scientific)?

where is the passage? I would be more interested in how they say one gets to heaven! I would think the four corners of the earth would be where some 4 people or possibly 4 angels could be at 4 ends out in space like a square and then could see each other but that does not make the earth square!

Quick, Chewy, get us out of here!
Han uh, sorry, Peter

Excellent question, @Amos3three. Your eagerness to learn and engage with the teachings of Scripture is truly commendable, never lose this rare and valuable quality.

I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m supposed to see, they’re just pictures. Nothing rotates? Are you saying that if I stare at them long enough that they’ll look egg shaped? I see two pictures, both round. The colored one shows land masses and the ones at 8 0’clock and 4 o’clock can give the illusion of out of roundness if you don’t consider the land masses in the colored picture.

Try again.

thx for the warm comments, being 82 now and on the 22nd 83, I made a commitment to Jesus when I was 35 going down a hill on my way to work as a policeman in Nashville, and began studying the Bible and hiding His word in my heart and memory, took a verse and wrote it on a piece of paper and put it to memory and did that for quite a while, saying them in order 5 days a week every day on the way to work, and the Lord has blessed me over the years for putting His word in my heart and obeying it, and a new one I added a short time ago tells us why it is important to read and apply His words into our walk daily, John 6:63 it is the Spirit that quickens, the flesh profits nothing, the words I speak to you they are spirit and they are life. Which, in turn, declares the wonderful reason for reading and hiding His word in our hearts, especially the last half of Phil 2:12 work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; **13 **for (in the sense of because of) it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Notice its his words giving you the thoughts that are showing us what to do, and I can recall when that struck me thinking, I use to say, I am glad I thought of that, but now I say thanks you Lord for revealing that to me!

Also @Amos3three

The Holy Spirit is indeed our wonderful Helper, and one of His key roles is to bring to our remembrance the teachings of Jesus. Jesus Himself promised this to His disciples in John 14:26. He said, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

This is such a comforting assurance, knowing that the Spirit is actively working within us to recall God’s truth.
This ministry of remembrance isn’t just about recalling facts; it’s about bringing God’s word to bear on our present circumstances, guiding our decisions, and strengthening our faith. When we are facing challenges or making choices, the Holy Spirit can bring to mind a relevant scripture or a past spiritual lesson that offers wisdom and direction. It’s like having a divine whisper reminding us of what we’ve learned and what God has promised.

Consider also 1 John 2:27**: “But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need of anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie, just as it has taught you, abide in him.”**

This “anointing” refers to the Holy Spirit, and it highlights that the Spirit’s teaching and remembrance ministry is for all believers. He equips us to understand and remember God’s truth in a way that is true and reliable.

“but be filled with the Spirit”

This is a PRESENT PASSIVE IMPERATIVE meaning “you must continue to be filled with the Spirit” or “ever be filled with the Spirit.”

This is a command, not an option! It is the normal state for all believers, not the exception. This phrase implies that believers are to be available, sensitive, and obedient to the Spirit’s forming of Christ in their daily lives (cf. Rom. 8:28-29; Gal. 4:19; Eph. 1:4; 2:10; 4:13; Col. 1:28; 1 Thess. 3:15; 4:3,7; 5:23; 1 Pet. 1:15).

Believers cannot fill themselves, but must allow the Spirit to have freedom and influence. Human performance is not the key to effective living but the Spirit (cf. Gal. 3:1-3). However, believers must volitionally open themselves to the Spirit’s leadership and control on a recurrent basis.

The term “filled” is used often in the NT for that which motivates and characterizes one’s life. Believers have a choice in what fills their lives. In Acts being “filled” with the Spirit is associated with evangelism. Peter was “filled” several times in Acts 2:4; 4:8,31. Filling was an ongoing need and experience. There are several things that people in the NT are said to be “filled” with.

the Spirit
Elizabeth ‒ Luke 1:41
Zacharias ‒ Luke 1:67
the Apostles ‒ Acts 2:4; 4:31
Peter ‒ Acts 4:8
Paul ‒ Acts 9:17; 13:9
wisdom ‒ Luke 2:40
rage ‒ Luke 4:28; 6:11
fear ‒ Luke 5:26
sorrow ‒ John 16:6
Satan ‒ Acts 2:2; 5:3
wonder and awe ‒ Acts 3:10
jealousy ‒ Acts 5:17; 13:45
joy ‒ Acts 13:52; Rom. 15:13; 2 Tim. 1:4
confusion ‒ Acts 19:29
unrighteousness ‒ Rom. 1:29
knowledgge ‒ Rom. 15:14; Col. 1:9
comfort ‒ 2 Cor. 7:4

The structural parallel (Colossians & Ephesians are based on almost the same outline) in Col. 3:16 changed the “ever be filled with the Spirit” to “let the word of Christ richly dwell within you.”

They both refer to daily intentional submission to the Spirit’s producing Christlikeness, particularly as it relates to dealing with people. Jesus died for people. People are priority…

Shalom.

agreed, and another I thought of that I would tack on to those

agreed, and another that I would say with those I stated was Isaith 55“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.

10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
**11 **So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me [c]void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

LoL, Just tilt your head to the side then if you don’t know how to make your computer rotate the photos of earth at a 90o turn. If you’re in a neck brace or have some other excuse, turn your screen on its side.

@Edward429451 my point exactly, look at the picture of the flat one he posted (post # 71), standing on its side looks like an egg. So how is that because it is clearly a picture of a flat earth.
