Does Your Faith Inform What Movies/Shows You Watch?

As a parent, I control and monitor what my children watch, but I’ve realized that maybe I should be more aware of doing this for myself. Obviously, I would have different boundaries for me vs. my children, but I know I could practice more discernment when it comes to what movies/shows I consume.

What are some boundaries or frameworks you use to choose movies/shows? I don’t watch anything that I know will cause me to be disturbed or scared, but that’s more because I’m sensitive to violence/horror. I’d really like to be more thoughtful in what I’m watching in light of my faith, so I’d appreciate any tips or suggestions!

That’s such a wise reflection. I’ve asked myself the same thing..am I holding myself to the same level of spiritual care I expect for my kids? One thing that’s helped me is Philippians 4:8. I try to pause and ask: does this show or movie stir up what is true, pure, lovely, or praiseworthy? Not every story has to be squeaky clean, but I want to be sure it isn’t normalizing sin or dulling my conscience.
