Finding God’s Purpose in Hardship
In Genesis 50:20, Joseph reflects on the trials he endured, stating, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” This powerful verse reminds us that even in our darkest moments, God is working behind the scenes for our good and His divine purpose.
How have you seen God turn difficult situations around in your life? Have you ever experienced a moment where something intended for harm was used by God for a greater purpose?
I definitely can. I’ll try to make this short.
January 1999, my husband & I lost our home in a real estate scam. We ended up in a private homeless/halfway house run by a lovely couple, Mr. & Mrs. V. A number of circumstances made us decide to move to be closer to my husband’s family. When we mentioned this to Mr. V, he told us that we had skills he could use in his organization; would we consider staying on? We told him that we would pray about it. He was an Atheist, so he just kind of shrugged. We got an almost instantaneous answer to prayer & stayed with Mr. V for 2 years. We helped the organization grow and we helped a lot of homeless, disabled, and parolees. And, while Mr. V died some years ago, he died knowing the Lord as his Savior.
